[edit] Creating a Website Account
The Guild of Maintainers website has an open membership policy. A simple account membership is acquired here. This basic membership can be used for accessing all the various parts of the website and posting to the Forum. This level of membership is titled "Explorer".
[edit] Purpose and Responsibilities
The Guild of Maintainers is a group of explorers from Myst Online: Uru Live with the mission:
To Protect and Serve the Community, throughout the Cavern and Ages.
The guild has evolved from being a loose grouping of supporters of an idea to what it is now, a guild eager to work with and support other guilds and groups within the Uru community. If you would like to join with us in our task -- as an active maintainer or simply as a supporter -- you will be made very welcome.
[edit] Code of Conduct
All Maintainers are expected to read, understand, respect, and follow the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is intended to guide a Maintainer's actions and behavior as a strong representative of the Guild and its values.
1. Responsibility
Maintainers are expected to be responsible. When a Maintainer commits to a specific task, they are expected to complete that task on time and with quality work. They take ownership of their actions. They follow the rules of online sites (Cyan-related or otherwise) that they participate in. They respect the rules laid down by Cyan regarding fan-created Ages and other fan content. They respect the intellectual property of others, and do not accept unsanctioned use of others' intellectual property, whether it is Cyan's property, an Explorer's property, or the property of some other company.
2. Interpersonal Communications
Maintainers are expected to have good interpersonal skills. They are cooperative and respectful of others, including both their fellow guilds members and the Cavern at large. They listen well. They act maturely and appropriately even in stressful situations.
3. Discretion
Maintainers are expected to be discreet. Their duties may include work, either “In Character” or “Out Of Character”, that needs to remain secret from the Cavern at large, possibly for long periods of time. A Maintainer is expected to keep silent when required.
4. Excellence
Maintainers are expected to strive for excellence. They hold themselves and their work to the highest standards. They are resourceful and innovative, and continually seek to improve on their previous efforts.
5. Service
Maintainers are expected to serve the Cavern at large, especially the community of Explorers. Their actions foster the greater good. They work to fill the needs of the community to the best of their ability, placing the community's needs before individual desires.
Failure to follow the Code of Conduct may be grounds for warning, suspension, or expulsion from the Guild.
