URU Library Manager
Andy Legate's ULM Installation Instructions
Note for Windows Vista Users:
You must be logged in with an account that is a member of the Administrators group, and you must add additional privledges to your Uru folder in order to install the ULM. To do this:
1. Right click on your Uru folder.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click Edit.
3. Click the name of the group or user, select the permissions, and then click OK.
You should now be able to install and run the ULM without any issues. If you don't do these extra steps, the books for ULM Ages will not appear in your Relto bookshelf, and you will likely encounter errors.
Step 1
Make sure you have the offline version of Uru, commonly known as Uru: Complete Chronicles (Uru:CC). The alternative to this is a 2-disc set: Uru: Ages Beyond Myst (URU:ABM) and Uru:Path of the Shell (URU:POTS), the expansion pack which includes the To D'ni content. If you don't have one of these two options, you will NOT be able to use the URU Library Manager. It is not for use with MOUL. Uru: Complete Chronicles can still be purchased at such places as Amazon.com and ebay. Try a Google for it.
Step 2
The URU Library Manager will need the .NET Framework to run. You can download it from the link below:
Microsoft's .NET Framework
Step 3
NOTE: This step is optional, but recommended.
Download the latest version of Python for your computer platform from here:
Python 2.5.1
Install Python by double-clicking on it. You should do this first before installing the URU Library Manager.
Explanation: While ULM does not need Python to install, there are other things that do, such as the Ilathid Project and making Ages with Blender. Since this is a quick and easy thing to do, but something that people forget and causes problems later on, it's best to go ahead and get it done. This way, once you've got Python installed, if you suddenly get inspired to try to create your own Ages, or you decided to look at things like the Ilathid Project, you won't have any problems.
Step 4
Download and install the Uru Library Manager from here:
ULM Client
Run and install it.
Important: During the install make sure you point the ULM to your Uru:CC folder, NOT the MOUL folder. Uru:CC is almost always located in your /Program Files/ folder, whereas MOUL is in your /Documents and Settings/ folder. Don't get the two confused, or you might have to install MOUL over again!
Step 5
Once you have Uru:CC, Python and the ULM installed, start the ULM. You should see a screen that looks like this:

Click on the ULM Settings icon at the bottom.
Paste one of the following web addresses into the box that appears and then click on Save:
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Ages/library.php5
http://ulm.hbyte.net/library.php5
Don't bother trying to visit this link with your browser, you won't see anything.
(There are currently 2 locations for the ULM libaries. There are a few different Ages available on each, but for the most part, they overlap. We will be consolidating these into one location shortly.)
The list of Ages on the left side are the Ages that are available for download. Note: This does NOT mean they are on your computer yet!
Highlight a Age you would like to look at by clicking once on it, then click on the green arrow at the bottom to download the Age. This could take several minutes depending on the size of the Age and the speed of your internet connection.
Step 7
Once the download is done, click on and drag the book from the left side of the screen to the right. This will add the book to the bottom shelf of your Relto bookshelf.
Step 8
Load up Uru:CC. You should find a book on your bottom shelf that looks like the Bevin book on the outside. When you open it, the linking panel will look black. Don't panic, this is normal. The link will still work.
Have fun!
